Brandon Sapala currently serves as Corporate Counsel for X-Caliber. In his role, he assists with managing a wide scope of transactions across X-Caliber’s diverse product lines, including bridge, USDA, HUD, and CPACE financing, to support seamless execution.
Mr. Sapala plays a critical role in corporate compliance and risk management across all X-Caliber’s entities, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and implementing robust risk management strategies. He helps facilitate securitizations and transactions in the secondary market while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. He is also active in supporting X-Caliber’s rapidly growing portfolio, including the management of special assets to optimize performance and mitigate risk.
Prior to X-Caliber, Mr. Sapala worked as a Real Estate Finance Associate at Reed Smith LLP in NYC. His duties were specialized in a wide variety of commercial real estate financings and transactions, representing banks, lending institutions, and institutional investors. He was involved in the negotiation of complex capital stacks involving commercial mortgage loans, mezzanine loans, tax credits, and CPACE, and handled secondary market transactions.
Prior to that, he worked as a Real Estate Finance Association at Akerman LLP in a similar capacity. Before that, he served as a Policy Advisor at the USDA Rural Housing Service in Washington, D.C. During his tenure there, he contributed to the drafting of the OneRD Guaranteed Regulation, streamlining regulations for USDA Rural Development guaranteed loans. He also provided support to the national credit committee and assisted with risk management efforts.
Mr. Sapala holds a Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Business, Consumer Sciences, and Pre-Law from The University of Alabama. He is a member of both the National Rural Lenders Association and the National Rural Lenders’ Roundtable.
